it is the end of Aug in zone 7 NY city...i have just planted 2-3 weeks ago a bunch of rose cuttings in planters outside...6-7 per planter..they are starting to bloom nicely all of them...can i leave them in planters outside for the winter ? i intend to separate them and put the individually in single planters....

What zone are you in? Are you in a high rise or street level? Are they in a protected area?

I presume your cuttings already had buds on them that were about to open, but getting them to bloom 2-3 weeks after cutting them off the plant is quite an accomplishment. However, these stems or canes would not have any roots yet. If they should develop roots in the remaining warm weather, they won't be sufficient to survive outdoors through the winter.

I'm in NYC too Young, and I would not leave your cuttings out this winter. I've got a little piece with a small root on it that I put in a container a few weeks ago. I'm thinking about bringing that container inside...haven't told my wife that yet...
