(sorry if this is in the wrong thread, I'm still relatively new to the forums) I have this beautiful New Zealand Tea/Ruby Tea Tree/Leptospermum scoparium in a large container. I've had her for almost a year and I cannot find any information on how to prune this plant- online or at nurseries. I don't want to do anything to harm or hinder her growth but she's recently stopped flowering and I feel pruning would help direct some of that energy back into flowering. She's also gotten pretty unruly and slightly leggy (beautiful nonetheless). I would love advice on how to prune her, as well as maybe some insight as to why she's stopped flowering. She's in Southern California by the coast, gets approximately 5-6 hours of sun a day and is watered thoroughly when dry. I don't use fertilizer. any and all help is appreciated!! ie. do i cut into the wood? do i just pull off old flowers? do i only snip off the smaller branches coming off of the smaller branches? etc. truly any insight helps Smiling Confused Lovey dubby Thank You!

Oh, okay Natalie, since you begged. Grin

Basically cut off any growth you don't want. Don't cut into bare wood - it won't resprout. It's just that simple. Tea trees usually flower in the winter and spring so don't cut too much or you will lose a lot of color this winter. The best time to prune them is right after they flower, that stimulates new growth which will have more flowers. Thumbs up
