I got a rather enemic looking potted rose from Antique Rose Emporium. I can't plant it until this weekend. I typically put Rosetone and bonemeal in the planting hole but would it help to give it something like Miracle Grow now to giveit a boost?
I'm use to fall planting barefoot roses in the fall not potted and the rule of thumb in Zone 5 is to stop feeding roses by the end of August.

I wouldn't use a fertilizer. What you really want is root growth not a lot of top growth. I would use a rooting hormone instead. There are powders, liquids and gel types. Be careful though. You don't want to use too much of that either. Most important thing is to keep that pot root ball whole when you plant it. The less you disturb the roots the better for the rose. Just dig your hole, slip the rose out of the pot and into the hole and back fill.

Seil, you give the wisest advice. Do you ever Fall plant? I'm receiving a couple of roses from FreedomGardens and overwintered them prior, but after last year I'm going to put them directly in the ground this Fall. Any other advice?

Thanks, Vap! No, i don't fall plant anymore. I used to but found I lost too many of them over that first winter so I stopped buying roses in the fall. I miss out on some of the sales ut in the long run it saves me money.
