Garden Ideas: Level 1
Hi Greg,I had a pretty blue Streptocarpus a while back. It bloomed & bloomed.Unfortunately I got busy with spring gardening & neglected it & it finally died.Recently I looked all over for another 1 but couldn't find any. My friend gave me a couple leaves & I stuck them in perlite according to You tube directions. This was Dec5 & one pot Dec 12.They both have
babies showing!I was afraid it might be wrong time of year & that my temperatures might be too erratic.I thought since Streps like cooler temps it should be OK & it was.

Hi sewnsow (love the name!) Isn't it rewarding! Especially the baby plants!! I have lost several because of traveling or getting busy or whatever, but they're pretty easy to propagate Smiling Of course I'd like to see photos Big Grin

Hi Greg,I'll try to get some photos. They grow very slowly!I will be glad for them to get some decent roots because they will be on their way, then. I can get distracted especially in the days coming up.Seeds & cuttings for bedding plants.I don't know if I like the name sewNsow but it is so apropo for me.I probably spend equal time doing 1 or the other. Some might think so&so would fit Haha!

Lonnie, you have a gorgeous Spin Art! I love it when there is lots of red! Some of them only give you spits of red and mostly purple.

Hooray Jacquie! Actually I've begun getting so into the succulents (and they really are easier, in terms of watering!) so I've given one away, and plan to give the other that I have away too! But I do love them, so can't wait to see your photos! Once they bloom they last for several months, especially if you feed as per Violet barn's recommendations! Smiling
Cheers

Be patient, you probably have 2 weeks?? Maybe sooner, there is a stage where (for me) they are open, and you can see what it is, but it isn't fully opened, and they sit like that for a couple of days, the first time it happened (that I noticed it) I saw the bloom and said, hmm, this one isn't that exciting- and then after another couple of days it was fully opened at 4.5 inches! A real beauty! Hurray!

Jacquie, I've found that when they're blooming they need a bit more water, some people place them on a tray with gravel and water for extra humidity. I haven't done this, but I do water every 3 to 4 days and this keeps the blooms going!!
Can't wait to see when they open up! Congrats "Mom"!!! Thumbs up Thumbs up Hilarious!
