Thread OP

I have a row of roses that have had the weirdest leaf issue. It looks like someone took a hole punch to them. I have never seen this sort of thing before. Can anyone tell me what it is and what I should do about it, if anything. Other than this, the roses appear to be healthy.

Thank you!

It's just leafcutter bees, which are helpful pollinators, even if they do like to nibble the leaves.

Yep, leafcutter bees and they are good guys! I'm always happy to see those circles in my leaves. They cut those leaf pieces out to line their nests for the eggs. They usually pick out one of my roses each year and leave the rest alone. Probably one close to where they have nested. Do not remove the leaves. Even with the holes they are still feeding the plant. They will eventually drop off on their own when they are no longer useful to the plant.

What Seil said!

I love seeing them! I've been fortunate enough to see them work a time or two, and it's fascinating.

Not to worry! They are safe in my yard. It was just an unusual pattern, so perfectly circular.

Thanks for the help in identifying these artists!

Enjoy!
