I've had really great luck with USPS, they keep the mail moving even on the weekend. The mail does not sit in a hot truck or warehouse.

It is a real shame, I know others are regrouping and hopefully you will find what you like at other Nurseries or Mail Order Companies. Good luck! Also if you have a favorite plant you can ask around here and get some opinions on the Mail order thread or Good sources thread. I know I happen to have a ton of pictures in my recommendations although I tried not to buy too much from the west because of the shipping and the distance they have to travel, plants can really get stressed out.

True, it's just so hard to find plants that are adapted to our arid conditions, even if they can take the heat. At least there's Annie's Annuals, although a lot of her stuff does better in California, being a little less extreme.

You are right and that is why I try to shop closer to my zone, the plants are already adapted to the climate. Are there any nurseries near you that sell native plants? They would be the easiest to deal with plus they are use to the conditions.

Hi,
I contacted High Country Gardens today and they said that their Santa Fe greenhouses were no longer open to the public but their online business was going strong

Wow I read this thread and was really confused when i saw the dates. We order from them every year. Guess they were downsizing back then. Also if anyone is still reading this thread. Polly K has a 'gone but not forgotten box'? Does that mean what I think it does?

A LOT of California is hot an arid. Las Palitas Nursery specializes in native plants and has a lot of information on the site that I have found very useful. Here's a link:
Thank you, everyone, for the information. I just came across this thread and was really confused because I saw HCG was a contributor to a NARR last year and their website was still up. Now I understand.
Can anyone speak to the quality of service and plants at High Country Gardens since it has undergone new ownership? I'd be curious to find out who has ordered from them and if it was a good experience. HCG appears to have a lot of great stuff!
I am thrilled they are still in business on-line.
Wild Ginger Farm is no longer selling on-line but their nurseries are open to the public.
Seems everyone is finding a reconfigured solution for themselves.

Right now they are having a pre-season 20% off sale.
I have several perennials I got from them, that survive my summer drought on clay-
Cotula 'Tiffindell Gold'
Penstemon pinifolius 'Nearly Red'
Perovskia 'Blue Spires' (the species did not make it)
Solidago 'Fireworks' oh dear it is doing too well, anyone want some?
I lost Agastache 'Ava' and 'Rosita' before I realized Agastache is a no-no here, they were beautiful annuals.
PISTIL, No Agastaches here either. There are so few varieties that will last more than 2 seasons.
Apache Sunset does well and Ava has lasted two years ,lets see if it comes back in April.
