I see this tree everywhere locally, mostly in mass plantings like this, along city streets, in city parks, even in shopping mall parking lots. Many of them were planted as replacements for all the wonderful ash trees that were lost to the emerald ash borer beetle. I can't help wondering if municipalities are making the same mistake that was made years ago when all those ash trees were planted in the same places now occupied by these maples. More diversity would have been nice, this time around. There really are so many great trees to choose from.
