This is one of my favorite semps. I am somewhat bored right now so have been going through all my semp pictures and there are a LOT of them. I have been doing this for several years. And I find it so interesting how semps grow and change.

Awesome photos Melissa. And to think Don almost didn't release that one, he thought it looked to much like 'Glowing Embers'. I grew both and found 'Ginerbread Boy' to be far better than the other cultivar.

It is a sweet semp Nathaniel. I am really glad Don introduced it.

It does look a lot like Glowing Embers but it gets much bigger. At least for me it does!

I find the color stays longer and is more vibrant than my 'Glowing Embers'.

'Gingerbread Boy' has been my top red for a long time. 'Lady of Fire' has better coverage but doesn't seem to be as hardy. 'Gingerbread Boy' is also one of those semps where the green center is actually complimentary and not a detraction, it seems complete as opposed to other green-hearted-reds which can look as though the color not continuing into the center is an accident. 'Glowing Embers' can get some really warm tones I don't see in 'Gingerbread Boy', but I can definitely see the resemblance. Distinction is hard in hybridizing, with over 7000 takes on sempervivum out there it takes something really bizarre to avoid releasing something with some resemblance to something else that already exists.
