My husband is on oxygen & goes through quite a bit of tubing. Both of us hate wasting things so I thought about making some sort of plant stake to go into pots to "pretty" them up. I just can't figure out how. They would need to be pointy & stiff at one end to go into the dirt.
Here is a simple one that came with a pot I got at a thrift store. It's simply strong wire & 3 different sized buttons.
Here are some ideas I would like to try making some sort of version of:
And I want to make this as well.
The tubing comes in green & clear.
Anyone have ideas on how I can tie these together? I'm thinking maybe decorative sand, beads, or pebbles inside the tubing.

Fox Valley, North America (Zone 5a) A garden is more than just plants.
Not to derail your current thought process, but what about using them as a planter base itself, maybe weaving it into a basket or macrame hanger to hold another pot or fiber insert.
Alternately, you could use them as a decorative rim on a pot as well..
Maybe slice them down the long way so they sit on the top of the pot, then you could use any number of things to decorate it with.. Punching holes thru the "top" and threading line/wire/breadties thru it to affix whatever to.
Maybe just as a simple transition piece for making a pest barrier, incorporating other materials.
Just some scratch off the top of my head, mind you ;)
Along your train of thought with the stakes.. I'd probably cut them into little beads to get the most of them, using other stuff to affix to them or wire..
Personally, I'd cut them up into 2-3" pieces and use them as the long beads in making a beaded curtain with wire or maybe thick mono to keep that glassy effect. If you cut smaller pieces for the spacers, threading them for traction.. Alternating the rows and colors per, or as fancy as you like it.
You either serve the whole, or you serve the hole.. The difference can be subtle if you don't pay attention.
