A couple years ago I bought a set of shelves and some lights to start my own plants from seed to grow outdoors. I also started growing greens inside at some point. Last year when it was time to start the plants for outside, I didn't have the room on the shelves. So I got another set of shelves and lights. I've been growing a ton of greens indoors since. Here's a couple pictures of my set up. I just recently cleaned out a couple flats that had gone to the bad side and started about 6 flats of various greens. Not sure what I'm going to do in a couple months when it's time to start the peppers.

That looks so inviting in wintertime. Maybe by the time you start your peppers, you can move these outdoors to your covered raised beds. Many of the winter greens can shake off the frost and cold temps.
I'm warmer here but I plant in raised beds and don't even cover when down to the low to mid 20s.

These plants won't be around at that time. I usually get about 2 months of harvest out of them before the plants get tired and start to bolt. So I have a consistent cycle of starting new plants every couple weeks. Even though I do have row covers on 3 beds and sort of on a fourth (needs to be completed) and have some bok choy, and other frost hardy greens growing under them. The kale would most likely be fine without a row cover but the plats under the row covers are outgrowing the ones that aren't.

I actually stopped harvesting a few weeks ago the inside plants that is. I just was getting tired of salads all the time. Need to look up a few new types to make.

NOw that is a bad problem to have. Can I say I am jealous. My salad greens are just beginning in raised beds in the frosty mornings. I can't wait.

True harvesting a pound of greens and being sick of salads is a bad problem, but it was really nice having a couple different options when the son needed spinach to put in his chicken gnocchi that he made a couple weeks ago. For some reason I can't get spinach to grow well inside. We used some purple bok choy and amaranth as a substitute.
