I planted this rose last spring close to my dining room window with 2 other roses, Chicago Peace and Double Delight.
They have grown so prolific with leaves and blooms I don't know if or when I should prune them. They still have many flower buds opening and new growth at the top. Savannah is about 7-8 feet tall, Peace also 7 ft. and Double Delight 5-6 ft. tall.

Any suggestion as to pruning?

Mine don't go dormant here so I just cut them back to any height I want, remove any crisscrossing & dead branches, any wayward stems. No special formula, they are tough and very forgiving. I give them fertilizer and/or a compost dressing in early spring.

Forgot that long ago when I had roses in San Diego CA they didn't go dormant. I'm in zone 7 of Texas but it's a warm winter so far. RF

I think you need to wait until spring to prune them, if you did it now, they may send up new tender growth that would be nipped by frost.

Yes Sue, my husband and I discussed that probably in late Feb. they should be pruned. Frost is very rare then. It's sure nice to have beautiful roses for Christmas!

I have no idea when you normally would prune in Texas but a rule of thumb is when the forsythia bloom or when the daffodils bloom. That's usually the start of the spring season in most places.

I suppose the height and width the roses are allowed would depend on how much you want to see out of the dining room and how much light you want IN your dining room. WHEN to prune I'll leave to the experts.

All the Kordes roses do really well for me, but we have almost the same climate as they were bred in Germany. Savannah I have to keep trimming (cutting long stems for arrangements) or she really grows too tall for my tastes. The scent is amazing, the color and look varies enough to keep it interesting and she is disease free.. She was the first rose I bought. (I got her at Walmart, as the only rose that wasn't hot pink. Our garden center buying seems to buy only hot pink roses or red Knock Out)

I have since bought a number of Kordes roses and am really impressed with how they breed roses...they don't spray at all, they only release what makes it thru whatever nature throws at them...brilliant!

Maybe move her so the deer can prune her...that often happens to mine and she bounces back.
