Well in the days gone by, it usually meant all the joy of Christmas followed by all the joy of deciding whether to go out at eleven PM to shovel the still falling snow so it would not be so bad in the morn, or just waiting and hoping no one got stuck so the first thing you did in the morning was wade outside in deep snow and pushing those too cheap to buy snow tires. Hilarious!

I actually miss that a bit. Blinking

I had completely forgotten this was the day that the sun starts changing direction , but your verse is well said.
Godspeed may that verse bestow such upon all.

Oh, I really wanted to be able to see the conjunction but it's gray out and changing back and forth from rain to snow. Nasty stuff.

I have been watching them converge, and I guess I was expecting something more dramatic as I was a bit under- whelmed by tonight's display - cool event though!

I like winter solstice better than summer solstice. The planet conjuction is very cool to see, but certainly not overwhelming :-D

Happy solstice to all. I SO wanted to see the conjunction; I've been watching the 2 planets get closer and closer every time I was out at my land (here at the house you can't see the south-western part of the sky),but last night was cloudy, plus I have flu or something and couldn't have gone out there anyway...
