Just discovered this rose farm this week in No. CA (Sutter which is north of Sacramento, south of Redding) that says they are opening up their bareroot sale for the year at 10 a.m. this morning, PST. I know nothing about them except they have a bouquet subscription for their roses which looks like a lot of DA's, and they are offering a rose pruning clinic that includes a "free" bareroot rose for $100, coming up soon. They don't let you browse their site to see what they are offering before the magic time of 10 a.m., or let you know what shipping costs are, and you have to sign in (and even then can't see what they are offering, at least I couldn't). But I thought some of you might want to check it out at 10 a.m.

I tried posting a link, but was unsuccessful.

So I just got on the website which they opened up to shoppers, and it looks like all the DA offerings are highlighted with a "coming soon" notice.

Roses are all $27.99-29.99 bareroot. Shipping is $22 for 1-2, and goes up from there. Lots of different categories to browse. There are some own-root, and some high-lighted with "sold out". It looks like they have several sources they get their roses from, and I see a "wholesale" link on their site.

Edit--just noticed their own root Iceberg is $21.99. They have 11 own root roses left (one hr, after the sale started, and they have about half of their stock still available otherwise). They also offer an option of pick-up for $3 (I assume that's per rose), the first weekend of Feb.

I just reviewed their selections and appears that they only use FEDEX, which is very expensive, at least to Hawaii. One rose @$29 will cost $83 for shipping. Yuk!

That's terrible, Dennis! If I bought any, I would probably go pick it up (have a compact Prius). Must make it very attractive to buy bareroots at Home Depot if you have them there!

I have gotten great roses from Home Depot, usually at half the mail order price. Unfortunately, I have not gone there since the pandemic. I just got my first vaccination. Maybe I'll be able to tiptoe into the real world in March.

Does anyone know which rootstock they use? I usually buy ownroot roses, but for some weaker varieties I might consider buying grafted.

I got a few on their own roots--I'll let you know how they turn out...won't be here for a while yet...

I don't what what rootstock they use. I presumed Dr. Huey since they were in No CA.
I've got more than enough of the good Dr. (inherited with the house I bought) still coming up where I have tried to dig it out--sure as heck don't need any more!
