Love that site!

I bought a salvia leucantha back in May at a local nursery. It's been so beautiful but the plant didn't come with any mention of the cultivar. How would I find out that information? Thanks, Marilyn.

Hi Pirl

Welcome to the Agastaches & Salvias forum! Welcome!

You have what I grow as an annual, it's 'Midnight' and it's a beautiful variety! :hearts:

Beautiful pics!

Add them to the database. Salvia (Salvia leucantha 'Midnight')

Thanks, Marilyn. I will add them to the database but just needed a cultivar name so, thanks again.

There are plenty of gold, yellow and orange plants in autumn but this salvia is so glorious.

Next question, Marilyn: 'Caradonna' is shown as a perennial but every year I get seedlings. I must have five or ten huge seedlings (up to 10" across) to dig up from between the pavers right now. Do I post seedling photos under 'Caradonna' with the perennial status? Here's an example:

You're Welcome!

Midnight is a beautiful and colorful addition to the late season garden and is wonderful to see blooming! I still have it blooming in a mixed salvia container on the patio. I try to grow it every year.

I haven't grown 'Caradonna' for years now, but it looks like the leaf. Sage (Salvia nemorosa 'Caradonna')

Yes, go ahead and post the pics.

You are so helpful. Thank you.

The blooms end just a bit too soon to highlight the mixed Asiatic lilies, so in 2014 I intend (we all know about good intentions) to keep the flower spikes cut back to try and delay the blooms by two weeks. We'll see how that fantasy works out!

I was noticing that a lot of my salvias are putting out new growth. And my big May Nights are acting almost like evergreens!! They get huge, like 2' around, then they get too big & heavy so they just kinda splat on the ground flattened out, then I cut the big leaves off to give the new growth in the center some room, and zoom! they take off. Another variety of mine,.. can't remember the name right off the top of my head right now, is still blooming? Confused Blinking Confused and we've had some MAJOR killing frosts & snows.. I'll have to see if I can find the tag. It's a super tall, spindly one, and produces a beautiful spike of hot pink blooms.

Wow Toni!

About a month or two ago I took some cuttings of (probably) uliginosa. They're in the sunny kitchen bay window now...and blooming!
