For my project this year I would like to try to make a couple standard roses. Does anyone know where to buy rootstock?

Wow, what an ambitious project. If you can't find a provider, I wonder if it would be possible to take standards and add your own bud to it. I've read that standard roses actually have three parts to it. The rootstock, what is used for the "tree" part, and then the what is used for the top part.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what are standard roses? Is this what I've seen as "tree roses"? If so, I am intrigued! I'm curious tho, will the newly created standard rose eventually "revert" back to whatever cultivar the rootstock used is??

Yes, Alicia, standard roses are tree roses. Since there are two grafts to them the root stock could possibly grow from either graft if the grafted variety dies off. I do not know how common that is though. I have had many tree roses that have died on me because of my cold winters and have never had a one start to grow the root stock as a result.
