Thread OP
Georgia, USA
Is this Rose Rosette? I keep second guessing because 1) its growth season, 2) it seems to be turning green and 3) it isn't as bright red as the pictures online. But this cane is thicker and thornier than any other cane on the rose, and the buds are somewhat close together? I have a bunch of other roses so I am worried about leaving it and letting it spread. AND I was about to plant two more roses near this one, but now I am nervous to do that. Please help!

Nope, just nice new foliage that has not yet developed enough green chlorophyll to look green. Very common on new growth in the Spring. It can also be seen in the summer if it becomes very cloudy for several days as new growth leafs out.

For RRD, see the video in this link: https://roserosette.org/

Looks normal to me too, buds & thorns can develop differently from branch to branch.

Here are two images I uploaded to the database within the last couple of weeks of 2 different roses..

Beautiful healthy new growth! Do you know the name of the rose and how long have you had it? Sometimes as a rose matures it will develop larger canes and the thorns will be different. Plants change as they age just like people.
