How do you grow them in pots outside without rotting? Do you not water at all and let natural rainfall water them? What soil mix and pot are best?

I let mine grow outside with big drainage holes during spring/winter, during summer I bring them indoors and let them be dormant, I put the outside back in early fall.

I used terracota, but I am unsure that is the best choice. I used 1/2 diacotemus earth and 1/2 very chunky coco fibers. Might be too fast draining though, as I had to water it really really frequently. (highly reccomend cyclamen to someone who forgets to water because they droop really dramatically)

My cyclamen died when I moved houses though.

it also depends on what type you have. Some are summer dormant, some not. But yes, the biggest problem in pots is that you need better drainage. Use a very light soil mix.
