I spotted this stunted little Plectranthus yesterday with such an interesting shape (in the middle of nowhere, a family just starting a plant store on their home property - glad they put up that sign!!). It smells like herbs when the foliage is ruffled. There was another next to it with a single stem and leaves at least 50% bigger, but I really bonded with this one. The leaves are "beefy and fat" and covered with fuzz.





Do you have anything similar? Any idea what species to compare to as it grows?

There are lots of different types of Plectranthus. Some are ornamental, some are used as a herb. I had a long, trailing fuzzy leafed variegated plant that was really nicely aromatic. I rarely walked by it without rubbing a leaf between my fingers. I never did figure out if it was one you use as an edible or not and wasn't quite bold enough to just try. I always thought it would have been great to throw in with a pot roast with the fragrance it gave off.

This is close if not the match. A naturally diminutive plant makes sense.

This plant is coming along well. And the tiniest snips of Portulaca umbraticola (ornamental purslane) that must have taken root, it's been at least a month since I stuck them in there.
