So I have got hold of a cutting of a monstera, it has a few very small roots, not even 1cm in length, I'm guessing it was proper gated in water but I don't know that for sure, I have potted it into potting mix soil and was wondering if I should have actually just put it into water to get the roots longer first, also I don't know what type of monstera this is and we're coming into winter so that might make a difference? Thank You!

I suggest that soil is best, simply because the plant does not grow in water naturally and is not built for doing that long-term. I root mine in soil to begin with, and they are quite happy that way. I suppose going from water-roots to soil-roots it might appreciate not drying out in the transition, but soil is where it's going to be happy long-term. Just my 2 cents. Smiling

Awesome, thank you for the reply, I actually found another post that's said that too
