Yea, I tested it to make sure that it didn't require FB login in order to view.

I have 2 cats who will play Pattycake with either themselves or me. Conan's the best pattycaker.. but he only does 1 paw. Bast will do two paws, but never flat like these guys.. always clapping pattycake. I've been trying to get some of the others to play, but they don't have the timing.

Thanks, Toni, none of our cats are that talented. And I second the thanks for checking the link. I have accidentally (and very briefly) ended up on Facebook trying to see various entertaining videos.

I went outside and checked my daffs. Sure is cold outside today even though the sun was shinning. I saw one bloom open but laying down flat on the ground because of the snow we had last weekend. But still, it is my first flower of 2013. So I officially record Feb 18 as my first daffodil bloom of the year.

I have barely anything green right now also. That is why I am so surprised to have such as early daffodil. Most of my daffs, and I have plenty, haven't even begun to put up folliage.

Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

I lost another 5 pounds on my weight loss program and today I weighed in at 135. Down 15 pounds from my starting weight of 150. I am halfway to my goal of 120 and the 30 pounds total weight that I need to take off and keep off forever for healthy living.

Of course I have broken down that 30 pound goal into smaller steps so that I can have results to celebrate. And then when I do get off some weight I have to share and let everyone know because I am so pleased with myself ha-ha.

I really want to be in much better shape this spring as gardening season rolls around. Thumbs up

Rita - CONGRADS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! I'm now insanely jealous! I had a goal starting August 2011 to lose 50lbs by June 2012. I worked my butt OFF. I dropped to 1200 calories a day, I did cardio 3-6 times a week for a minimum of 45 minutes on the elliptical, I did strength training.. you know how much I lost?

Nothing.

Not one damned pound.

My clothes were waaaaaaaaay looser, but the scale REFUSED to move at all. I even accused the gym of having a rigged scale. I fluxed 2-3lbs a week up or down. I think that's why I pretty much just gave up in September.. why bust my butt so hard for nothing to show? The reason why I needed the numbers to go down is I really really wanted to go horseback riding and there's a weight limit. Not size limit, weight limit. So even though I physically didn't *look* that big, the scale would tell the truth & I'd been denied.

So I'm insanely jealous of your success. You go girl!!! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

Congrats Rita!!
Poor Toni, you were building muscles, sucks because it didn't show on the scale even though it showed in your clothing fit!

It also depends on the kind of calories, if you drink a lot of empty calories in the form of sodas, the stuff in that really messes with your insulin.

Toni, I know exactly what you mean. My first ten pounds off took over 9 weeks. The scale just didn't want to go down. But my fat grew less, my clothes are looser.

I slipped in the snow last week Monday and sprained/pulled a muscle in my side along my back. So I had to stop exercising. Still not healed so I still am not exercising again as yet. That 5 pounds came off in this week of no exercise. I was amazed as it took 9 weeks to get the first ten pounds off.

So the exercise is healthy and good for us to do but it causes the weight to come off really, really slowely.

But I know that I need to keep exercising for long term health goals. Plus I want to be stronger for spring gardening season.

Maybe if you do continue your exercise but cut back some so that your not building so mucyh muscle? Or perhaps you are not getting enough protein in your diet? You do need that protein every day. And fat. Believe it or not people need to eat fat in order to loose fat. Just not the bad fat like trans fat but healthy fat such as fish oil and coconut oil.

Sue, I used to eat a lot of suger (not sodas) but donuts, cookies and cakes and such. I totally cut out all the sweets. I still do get some refined sugar as there is sugar in so many of our foods. But at least it is only a small amount.

Another thing that has really, really helped me is to have much more fiber in my diet. I eat more fruit and veggies and less red meat. Plus I take this Garden Of Life suppliment called RAW FIBER.

I make a health food slurry for breakfast were I put in the big scoop of Raw Fiber, my protein powders (so I get enough protein) and my antioxident Fruit Powder (I use one called Rainbow Vibrance). then I mix it in the blender until it becomes a slurry and scarf it down. I have one every day.

But as important (or maybe even more important) I also take a Garden Of Life super green food suppliment called Perfect Food Raw which I take in capsules as the powder tastes vile. It balances your body from acidic (not good) to alkaline (very good) and gives you all sorts of vitamins and mico nutrients for over all good health. Also it helps keep your blood sugar normal.

I sleep much better, I have more energy and feel great since starting these suppliments. I really, really believe in them strongly.

Well done Rita!

And Toni, looser clothes is a definite benefit; you are stronger and healthier. You just need to find someone with bigger horses!

Sue - Gave up soda Jan 29, 2011 due to kidney stones. I drink 2-4 liters of water a day. I will drink a glass or two of whole milk for dinner, but other than that, water. And I don't call them "empty" calories, I call them calories who love me to the point they NEVER wanna leave!

I think it's a state law or something that you have to be under 250lbs in order to ride a horse. And I can't find any elephant herders around.

WOW! I am sure that Texas does not have any such law - judging from some of the trail "riders" I've seen recently heading for the Houston Livestock Show.

Remember, 1lb of fat takes up more space that 1lb of muscle. It's the "what weighs more, a pound of lead or a pound of feathers?" Well, they both weigh 1lb. However, 1lb of lead takes up much less space than a pound of feathers. I'm not saying I'm no bodybuilder, but absolutely NO stretch of the imagination. However, I am much more denser than I look, especially in the head.

Decided to do a general walkabout the garden today as tomorrow it is supposed to pour all day so I will not be walking around the garden. Nothing much going on. This February cold snap we had seems to really pushed back spring from coming to the garden. Still patches of snow on the ground from that big storm afew weeks back. But the rain should wash them away. Hopefully it will get the bulbs growing. I do see more daffs poking their folliage above ground than were around before that big snow. Now if the cold would leave us they could really start to grow.

I saw on the news that there was lots of snow in the middle of the country with big storms. And north of us supposed to get lots of snow again. Boston supposed to get socked again. Forrtunatly it will be warm enough here that we end up with mostly rain, maybe a rain/snow mix here and there.

Last year at this time the rose bushes were already breaking dormancy and trying to grow leaves. Not this year, it has been a very cold February.
