I have a haworthia in which the oldest parts seem to be dying off and new starts are coming up. Is this normal? And should I separate the dying parts - it seems to be taking a long time and the plant looks not so good - well at least the red dying part looks bad.

Any ideas on this would be appreciated.

Thanks
Bill

More water maybe? That's not something I've seen here. You can definitely remove any stems you want and the rest of the plant will grow out of it fine and continue branching. I suppose that's the easiest solution at this point, unless somebody here has some great insight about what's happening.

I read about how they tend to sacrifice their roots when they go dormant (when it gets too hot), so pulling back on watering is best when they do that.

Is that a possibility? I know GA has been hot lately.

It's certainly hot here in Ga, but this is indoors in an east facing window and I keep the temperature around 78 to 80 inside.
There is a chance I under watered it at some point and it loss it's roots then regrew them with new starts at the same time.
