Thread OP

The outer leaves of most of my kale plants have been turning purple. I understand from reading this thread (The thread "Question: Kale leaves turning purple?" in Vegetables and Fruit forum) that this may be indicative of a nutrient deficiency, however my leaves look different from the ones in the thread, so I was hoping someone might be able to diagnose the problem from my photos.

Any suggestions for how to resolve this issue? We are beginner gardeners with limited resources available.

I am also wondering if these purple leaves are still edible.

Thank you!

There are several kale cultivars like Redbor and Red Russian that sport red or reddish leaves. I think this is the case: generally speaking leaves start turning red as the days grow shorter and unless you live in the Southern Hemisphere this has been the case for over a month now.

Nothing to worry about.
I am just another white boy who thinks he can play the Blues.

Yes , red and purple kale as well as other vegetables like mustard are perfectly edible and actually preferred by many folks.
