I posted this on "ask a question" forum, have had no replies, so I thought I might have better luck here on the tropical.

I have a gorgeous Madagascar Jasmine/Stephonotis plant that has just started blooming. Are they seasonal bloomers? It looks just gorgeous when in bloom and I'd like to take it with me to Texas when we go in early November if it would bloom down there. If it only blooms now and that's it till next year, I'll leave it here in its winter storage area.

Anna, my Stephanotis is a once bloomer with only an occasional flower afterwards. Your plant looks healthy and beautiful, you will know by early November if it still has buds forming. I don't know if you saw this on the other thread but I found a seed pod on my plant, it was hidden in the foliage. It is the size of a medium avocado, a good 2.5" x 5".

Holy smokes, I didn't know they had seed pods. I've had my plant for quite some time and never seen one.

The foliage on mine was looking pretty bad, I have determined it is because of too much water, but I was looking through the leaves trying to see if there were any insects and that big thing appeared. I was not sure if it was at first if it was alive, I had never seen anything like that. Wait a few weeks and poke through the leaves, you too might find a surprise. I understand it can take up to a year to ripen.

I have plenty of these plants because I threw the seeds behind my house where the spot was...I guess extremely good for them and now I am growing them on a trellis in the front garden. I also have some in pots and I am adding a tomato cage so they will climb. The mother plant escaped me when I planted it next to a camphor tree and now I see the flowers when they fall of the tree.

Should I cut it back any when I put it in my "faux greenhouse"? I really hate to since it's putting out so many new shoots, but if it would be better for it I will.

Wow! Very cool! You should put that photo in the database. I don't think there is a photo of a pod there yet Grin

As for your question about growing them in Texas ,,
I lived in Corpus Christi and they thrived in the summers but could not make it thru a winter if it did freeze ,,,, they do not like cold, damp soil .

after a losses I brought them in for the winters

I have already decided it will stay here in the "greenhouse" in Wisconsin for the winter.
