These tree's are often used in California as landscaping, generally I saw them around county buildings or commercial. They look like evergreen from a distance but stay green pretty much all season long. Now I live in Florida, they seem to grow just fine except for a few branches turning brown after a frost. I have been trying to order another for yard shading of a picnic area but have no idea what species it is to tell the nursery.

Yes, it is.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and proclaiming...."WOW What a Ride!!" -Mark Frost

I feel this is P. gracilior.
The "needles" are thinner, and taper more gently than P. macrophyllus.
