Just curious about how the Recently Popular Photos section works. I assumed that the photos with the most likes were featured in this section, but maybe there is more to it than that.

My photo below was in the Recently Popular Photos section up until yesterday or the day before and then it disappeared, despite receiving 27 likes a d there are still others with less likes than 27, I am just curious as to why it was removed from this section.

On my home page I see a "Today's Popular Photo" which I figured changes daily. Shrug!

By the way, that is a gorgeous Daylily and you now have another Thumbs up

The Recently Popular Photos feature works like this:

It makes a list of all the photos posted in the past week sorted by how many thumbs each one got.

Then it goes through the list and displays the photo to the user unless the genus of that photo has already been displayed twice, in which case it skips it.

So, if a photo has enough thumbs to make the list but two other daylilies had *more* thumbs than it did, then they would both be shown and yours would be skipped.

Once a photo is more than a week old, it stops showing up in that list.

In the case of your lovely photo @blue23rose it was posted on December 28 which was 9 days ago so it would not be eligible for this list anymore. It will be featured in the email newsletter this week, though!

Thanks for the explanation, Dave. I wondered if it had something to do with the genus, but didn't know about the one week thing. No biggie, it just made me scratch my head a little. Smiling
