The Recently Popular Photos feature works like this:

It makes a list of all the photos posted in the past week sorted by how many thumbs each one got.

Then it goes through the list and displays the photo to the user unless the genus of that photo has already been displayed twice, in which case it skips it.

So, if a photo has enough thumbs to make the list but two other daylilies had *more* thumbs than it did, then they would both be shown and yours would be skipped.

Once a photo is more than a week old, it stops showing up in that list.

In the case of your lovely photo @blue23rose it was posted on December 28 which was 9 days ago so it would not be eligible for this list anymore. It will be featured in the email newsletter this week, though!
