We were north of the snow. Daffs in front of the wall are looking better & you can see a few buds. Others scattered around without a wall for heat, bloom later.

I am really liking these iris reticulata I planted last fall. They are a nice early bloom to have and first thing in the spring I am always looking for something that will bloom. These are blooming before most of my crocus as only some early species crocus are open for me. (Golden bunch only opened today).

I am plotting where I want to plant more of the iris reticulata. I am also thinking they would look really nice mixed in with some early crocus. Need to think about what color combos I want to create.

Reticulatas usually bloom before crocus here. that is except for the little patch of crocus next to the house & the vent from the dryer.

Yes, crocus not yet in bloom, at least not mostly. There are some so I think it is possible to get them blooming at the same time as the most early species. I did plant some tommies also (crocus) but I don't see them up.

It started drizzeling outside. Not much of a rain but too much for me to keep working out in the garden. Just shortly after I had gone ouside too. Oh well, I guess I will be back out there tomorrow. I am not motivated enough to stay outside now in the drizzel.

I was taking leaves (winter mulch) off daylily plants that look like they are starting to grow. And off the tulips around them. Still so early in the year that not much shows yet. That is what you get for a cold March. Last year everything was early and this time of year the garden was green.

Tomorrow I have to plant more peas.

We're losing that entire wonderfully shady line of Ash trees alongside our house to EAB, Tam. Thumbs down I'm not sure what we'll do about those along the drive that are growing on Park land. They will likely fall our way once they're fully dead, but we're not allowed to cut on Park property. We'll have to stop over there one day and find out what can be done.

Hurray Jo Ann. You can finally see your garden.

Today I cleaned out all my birdhouses so that the birds can pick whichever one they want when they look this spring. Chicadees and House Wrens usually nest in them.

Then I planted four large pots of Sugar Lace II snap peas. I had peas in these pots last fall. I have found that peas do really well in large pots. I still have seeds left of the Sugar Lace so I will probably plant another pot or two, Not today though. Then I decided I will place my Cascadia snap peas in ground, maybe I will do that tomorrow. And I watered the Super Sugar Snap peas I planted last week.

I was out and about the garden doing spring cleanup so carefully looking at things and tulip bulbs are comming up all over the place. I have never had so many tulips as I am going to have this year. So excited about that and can't wait for blooms.

So sad about the ash trees. the beetles, I suppose.

Spotted our white 'snow crocus today, so things are looking up. Also a single 'giant snowdrop'. they are bigger so can be seen. Will have to get more in the fall & plant in a different spot, not where the snow is shoveled off the walk.
