They are Gelditsia 'Skyline' cultivar.

Would I be right if I would say that will look bad for ever, the base of the stem looking uneven? I I am not liking hot it looks.

All trees have been sent to me looking like that.

Is there any way to make it better? Plant very deep maybe?

The mess at the bottom of the stem under all the wax is the graft. Eventually the two stems will meld - there may always be a difference in bark texture and maybe trunk size (like an old grafted walnut tree).

The part I would be concerned about is the top part above the graft. I think the grafting material chosen will lead to a weaker trunk because the leader is actually a branch turned leader. Choose a tree with a more straight up branch/stem (in the 3rd photo, the one center front, not the one center back). The trees should have been bud grafted.

No, don't plant it deeper. The graft needs to be at the same level it is now.

Stupid plant nurseries!
I'm not sure that it's even possible to purchase a tree from a plant nursery that hasn't had it's shape ruined by this kind of 'pruning'.

If you can send them back with a complaint... I'd probably do so.

I've grown honeylocust from seed... It isn't going to take that much longer... and you get a natural shape if you do it from a seed.

While those look really bad... your trees would probably grow if you planted them.

Part of the problem is that you purchased grafted trees... Not sure that named cultivars can be grown from seed.

Seedlings are nice, but this is a cultivar that doesn't have thorns and rarely produces pods and I looked for that exactly.

I decided not to plant them as I am afraid they would break at the grafting joint due to occasional strong winds, not to mention lots of bugs and diseases going around here locally.
Some look even worse, like the one below.

Supposedly honey locust should also create roots from cuttings, I will try and see.
I do not quite know what the downside would be trying to root some cuttings of such cultivars like 'Skyline' or 'Sunburst'.
