I planted hairey vetch seed and crimsom clover seed also today. Next I will fix up the bare patches in my lawn with dutch white clover seed. I love clover in my lawn. I plant the crimson clover (an annual) just becasue it is so pretty. But not in my lawn. And that hairey vetch for the bees plus again I do think it is pretty. It might be somewhat early to plant the crimson clover but I have a lot of seed so if there are any problems I can redo. Not too early for the vetch, it is in the pea family. Both of these are often included in wildlife plots and both are also used as green manure or cover crops.

Plus I planted my onion sets. Now I have to go out and water all the stuff I planted.

Today the peas I planted in big pots are sprouting. So far I see nothing sprouting with the peas I put inground.

Out in the garden today planting and watering peas.

Those peas in pots are doing so well that I planted two more pots. Used up the leftover Sugar Lace II seeds that I had. So I had four pots of Sugar Lace II and four pots of Snow peas. Now I will have six pots of Sugar Lace II.

I always have good luck planting peas in pots, I planted them in pots last spring. None in ground. Then last fall I planted them in pots again but did put some in ground. This fall I will be planing peas in pots also.

I watered all my peas including the inground ones. Those early inground ones (Super Sugar Snap) I planted March 21 and I don't see anything sprouting yet. But the pots I planted March 29 and March 30. So they sprouted quickly.

Hurray for spring peas. Smiling

Spring has begun to "sprung' here. Here's Pat Austin as a climber. Sorry for the bad photo.
It actually looked better a week ago when the Lady Banks that's growing in with it was blooming.

Nothing bad about them Mike, they show your plants in full glorious splendor!
I left Pat Austin behind, another regret, now I think I should get it again, it's stunning as a climber.

Wow, JD! You already have that many blooms open? I just have a stray bloom here and there, but your rose bushes are popping!

The photos are great. Is that the ""Dexter" house to the left of yours in the first photo?

Sue: Thanks. I always just use auto focus since I'm not a techie ! Your new grandchild is beautiful. What's not to love about a newborn baby ? Innocence personified.

Zuzu: That section of the garden is always the first to bloom because of the way the sun travels and changes with the seasons. The rest of my roses are slightly behind but full of buds. About another 2 weeks for those to start blooming. That Pat Austin is the ONLY Austin I've ever had success with here...and I've gone through more than I care to think about.
No. That's not the Dexter house. It's behind that one. I'll see if I can sneak some more pictures of the front of the one they're using.

edited to add that for whatever reason, my Bill Warriner's first flush of blooms are always single stemmed.. The following flushes are all in typical floribunda clusters. Any idea why that might be ?

Here's Gold Marie and Bill Warriner with their first flushes.Thumb of 2013-04-07/Calsurf73/38142d

Wow! Gorgeous, and not one bit of black spot. Some of my roses (the OGR's) are already starting to spot badly.
