Hi, hoping someone can help with my question about Stellar Pink Dogwood trees which are a cross between our native (florida strains) and Korean (Kousa strains). I just bought the Stellar Pink to plant.

The websites I looked at are giving conflicting info - so I don't know what to believe. First hand experience from forum members who actually have this tree, would be great!

1) Do Stellar Pinks flower before or after the leaves emerge? If after, are the leaves full size when it blooms? (Some websites say it blooms before, others after.)

2) Do Stellar Pinks fruit? (Some websites say yes, others no.)

3) Is the anthracnose disease spread by birds? (A certified arborist just assured me it only is spread underground by dogwood tree roots. Is there some new research out that disproves the old beliefs?)

Any info about this will be greatly appreciated!

I have a Stellar Pink. It blooms just as the leaves are forming but the floral display is still great. It's nice to have a dogwood blooming about the time the typical C florida trees are finishing - extends the season. I think it's sterile, hence no fruit but I'm no expert. As for the anthracnose questions, I'll definitely leave to folks more knowledgeable.

Here is a 'Stellar Pink' in bloom in 2014. I planted this tree for my parents in 2003 for their 50th anniversary.

You are welcome, Jeanne. I hope you enjoy many years with your tree. It should be pretty happy in MA.
