Have been keeping an eye on these two lilies whose foliage seems pretty distressed.
Is this a virus? We have had wild spring weather this year and was hoping that it was caused by the weather??Thumb of 2022-06-08/cwalke/332508

Hi Cody - I'm feeling your pain. I'm up in Bow (Skagit Valley) and many of mine look like yours too. I think it is the combination of the cold spring and excessive rains (plus winds here). My lilies have been totally bashed by the weather this year. Sad I don't think they are virused.

I would eliminate that. Don't think weather can cause that especially on newer leaves.

When it appears systemic all through the plant like that I think it would be virus. I have almost always regretted leaving a lily like that in because the disease spreads to nearby lilies. I have a few right now that I will remove because of the risk. Sad, I know. I am losing some lilies that are not replaceable Sad .

Connie has a valid point about the uniformity of the damage to the leaves. If both new and old look like this then I agree that you should favor a virus. If a section of the plant is damaged only then this would be frost/rain/botrytis. The photos here show weather damage on a couple of my lilies. Are yours Asiatics, Cody? How long have they been in your garden? Certainly, anything with L. longiflorum in its genetics (e.g. LA hybrids) could be prone to virus. In my experience they are weather-susceptible too.

I, too, would suspect virus given how evenly distributed those chlorotic markings are. If it's easily replaceable, I wouldn't take the chance.

Are these the only two lilies you have? What kind (asiati, martagon, trumpet, oriental) are the others that don't show symptoms?

Wow...so many helpful responses...I will try to address them in my reply here...I have many lilies (close to 100) of all kinds and none of the others are showing this kind of damage. There are actually two kinds here I believe, an asiatic and an orienpet, but unfortunately I probably didn't ID mark them when they were planted...I think they are both new lilies to me, planted last year.
I think I will take them out and put them in an isolated pot, let them do their thing and then keep an eye on them for next year, but definitely will remove them today. Thanks for all of the input!

Being the only two out of many and those two being new, is are two more pointers toward virus.
