@WebTucker in case you didn't know about this discussion. ; ) I never notice one of these posts about one of my pics until I look in Plant Photos forum.

Looks like a goofed up again. This looks a whole lot like butterfly bush to me. I'll be honest cultivars are my weak point, and I just assumed it was a butterfly bush. I have never heard of Vitex. Now I will learn a new plant in the process. Can you tell me the differences, and will a moderator/Administrator go ahead and make the changes please or do I need to do something more.

P.S., cultivars are named varieties of any given genus or species of plants. Like Buddleja davidii is the latin genus and species name, and as an example, Buddleja davidii 'Black Knight', the 'Black Knight' with the parenthesis, is the cultivar name.

Web, the close up pics of blooms are so similar, but what I noticed was the whole plant shot, the "spiky" appearance that Vitex has, vs. the appearance of the kinds of Buddleias that I see.

And the size. If it's possible for a Buddleia to get that big, I haven't see one for myself. Maybe farther south where they're reliably evergreen, but since the pic was taken in NC, that was also noticed.

A little late to the party, but I spotted this while stopped at a red light today. It's a lovely example of a beautifully shaped, healthy vitex.

NMoasis Thanks for taking a pic I can see why it was way to tempting to take a pic of this great specimen. Did you know that the vitex tree has properties used from the fruit and seed for medicines.
