I think what Leslie is saying, she likes to see my seedlings so she doesn't make the same mistakes I make, and I have made a few over the years.
When I made the cross DARK AVENGER X ALDERSGATE two years ago I knew it was a stupid cross because Kathleen told me so, who would put a 16" spider on a 2.5" mini she asked? She even threatened to start hybridizing again if I couldn't stay focused and stop goofing off when I daub pollen. Well yesterday I brought her a 3" bloom from that seedling X EMERALD STARBURST thinking this would redeem her faith in my expertise of pollen daubing. Well that didn't happen and no one was impressed but myself. Other than the form, which I hope will get better than this first bloom, I thought it was a neat and different daylily. It has 4 distinct colors, brown, red, dark purple, and that large throat.

On to something else.
I did not show her this for some reason.
I have several with this type pattern and I hope
they get better when the nights are warmer.

I agree with Cindy. I kinda like it, at least its something different.

Im so ashamed of my seedlings this year. I got two more dark mauve seedlings again this morning, they kinda look like the rest. They were planted three years apart.

I did have this kinda different little star shaped flower yesterday. its small, and looked to be trying to double. Its got such an excellent scape, Im keeping it for that alone, at least thru another year.

I picked this to throw it away, but then decided to bring it in. I dont know who its parents are, but feel I should know that eye. With and without the flash. Its trash no matter what

Thanks, Im gunna keep the little one, but the mauve one has to go. Two more mauve from today, they are history as well. Im just fed up with seedlings. They are too much work to get nothing. The second one got its sepals and petals mixed up. The one with the eye is a sibling to one I posted above. Our Miss Ruby x Just Fabulous. Thumbs down

I think both of these are interesting. If I may ask, how tall are the scapes on the first one? The coloration really catches the eye and it seems to me that the 2nd one's pattern (reminds me of a stamen) and size would standout in the garden. Will you be posting pics of them after they have settled (please??)?

Hang in there Pam, things will happen.
Thanks for the comments everyone.

The seedling in question is 34" , I have several of this cross, all with tall scapes and most with good branching.

Great seedlings! Its so funny you got a really nice poly from two non poly's. I cant get a poly from 2 poly's ;-).

This year has really taught me something about flowers and weather. I now see why people breed for the north, and cooler weather. They really do look and act differently. Interesting.
