I live in deep east Texas & there's plenty of wood available to use, either from trees that have fallen or washed ashore from the lake. I have 2 hugelkulturs already in place & have sunflowers planted on one & trying to figure out what to plant on the other since it's in a shady area. I'm sure to find some good ideas here!

If you're in East Texas than we're neighbors! I have yet to find anything that doesn't do well in hugelkultur. The shade is the limiting factor there, I would think.

Here our wood is plentiful because we lost so many trees in the drought a couple years ago!
