Thread OP

Hi, I'm new to this topic but I'll try to do my best... So, I've planted some cherimoyas from seeds and many of the seedlings (~3 monts old) are getting ill - their leaves are discolouring and falling off (sometimes while still green). I've lost three or four so far... my best guess is the overusage of fertiliser (I've cut on that already) but I still want to know how to save them and what caused this exactly. Is it the fertiliser as I suggested, lack of sunlight, fungus, wrong soil, seasonal leaf lose, something else? Thanks for answers!

The photos are as follows:

Some dropped leaves (from various plants, they are a bit dried up)

A yellowing leaf - it will likely fall off today or tomorrow.

Semi-healthy plants (there are still 20 of them in total)

I googled Cherimoya.
As it's in the same family as osage orange and mulberry... I would expect fairly easy performance.

I wouldn't have them in those cups. Rather, I'd plant them in loose sand outside.

I checked Cherimoya culture... Apparently susceptible to root rot.

The problem is that I can't plant them outside as I'm in Poland and they definitely would not survive the winter. Also, I don't really think this is root rot since I've observed it in the past and it looked different (also didn't cause such a rapid leaf lose).

By the way, today I replaced all the soil as I still suspect it contained too much fertiliser.
If anything changes, I'll post an update.

I plant my tropicals out in the garden... and dig them back up and put back in pots indoors for the winter.

While I don't have Cherimoya, the plants that I put in the ground for a few months do a lot better than the ones that I leave in pots.

Changing the soil may help... especially if you went for a better draining medium.

Kinda surprised that you would attempt growing so many Cherimoya if there is no chance of ever setting them out in a permanent spot.
