Someone Please Tell Me Where I Can Order Species Lily Bulbs, Preferably Native North American Species Lily Bulbs. Every Site I've Ever Found Never Have Any In Stock, Just Have Seeds, Or Are Trying To Sell L. lancifolium For L. superbum I Have L. superbum Already. Any Native North American Lilies Would Be Good. Wood Lily, Michigan Lily, Carolina Lily, Roan Lily, Leopard Lily, Columbia Lily, etc.... Please And Thank You In Advance.

Busy building a lily collection...
That's a tough one, Duane... North American species often have somewhat fragile bulbs with loose scales, so do not handle harvesting and shipping as well as other lilies. The Lily Garden and B&D Lilies occasionally will offer L. pardalinum (Leopard Lily), and more often will offer L. 'Fusion' which is a L. longiflorum x pardalinum hybrid which I think will be the nearest to a North American species that you will find fairly easily. As for other NA species you will probably have to hunt around some of the smaller specialized nurseries, or resort to growing them from seed. The more straightforward ones (L. pardalinum, kelloggii and hybrids) will typically flower in their third summer from initial sowing. Hope this helps...

Thank You Steve
I ordered some Fusion bulbs 2 years ago but got dwarf Asiatics. I see the west coast lilies for sale in stock occasionally but they are ridiculously high. Saw a L. pardilinum in bloom for sale last night they wanted $146 for it, for one bulb!!! I would be really happy if I could just find 2-3 each of the Canada and Wood lilies. For the past 3 years they have never been in stock though no matter the time of year. Actually the 25 L. superbum I ordered two years ago where so tiny they many are still pencil eraser size. I've seen Siberian Wood lilies in stock I might have to settle for them. I've never tried growing from seed they look really tiny , really thin, and hard to get to germinate. Reviews I've read tend to go to the couldn't get sprouted side. Thanks again for responding the search continues along with ways to get seed germination. 🙂

I actually found some fusion lilies for a great price. 5 top sized bulbs for $14. I took advantage of the price.🙂

Siberian wood lilies (Lilium pensylvanicum/dauricum) pretty easy to grow, and similar to the American wood lily (Lilium philadelphicum). I grow a few different accessions (of Siberian). The American wood lily is much more difficult, be warned. Fusion lilies have come way down in price from when they were introduced. A good, pretty easy lily.

I am going to make a point to visit him this coming year, as I had previously helped him with a germination problem he was experiencing, and I would like to meet him in person.
