Thread OP

Hi, I am a big fun of orchids and had them for over 8 years. I am not a professional gardener but my flowers kept praising me with full and long-lasting blooming. However, a few month ago I suddenly started having big issues across several of my plants! First I got some scale (as I have identified already) and now some sort of massive white and black spots. Plants started decaying in an alarming speed and I do not know what to do to save them! I am mostly referring to the second issue as I cannot understand what causing it. Wise orchids guru, please advise on how to save my beloved plants! I attach a few pictures. Thank you!

Hi Sonya!
We see a couple of issues here -
first, there is quite some sunburn. Some of the leaves and this bloom must have gotten some straight sun. Phals like bright light, but not straight sun.
Also, some of the plants are sitting in an additional pot, some are not. There is some inconsistency. One would suspect some overwatering going on in those extra pots, causing the roots to go south.
It might be good idea to take a good look at the roots and do some repotting.

Hope this helps! Smiling

Hi Ursula,
Thank you so much for your advice! I now also suspect a sunburn. I had moved these to that window recently and there were two or three quite sunny days. I did not realize that that window was under the direct sunlight! *Blush* Also will defifnitely check the roots! Thank You!

Thank you once more for your help!
