Wondering if this plant will thrive on the east side of my house, 3 hours of morning sun, mostly bright shade after that. I am in zone 6 but tend to be more of a zone 5. I want something there with lime kind of colored foliage about 4-5 ft tall, will this do that? I know some plants keep the lime color in the sun, but kind of lose it more in the shade, worried this won't stay lime colored in that location?

It should do fine, though it might lose some of its vibrant golden color. I have one which was planted in fairly sunny situation initially, but like most other things in my yard, is now pretty shaded by overgrown woods. It's golden color is a little muted - not sure you can tell in the picture.

A shrub you might also consider is one which I love, a gold-leafed cultivar of the pagoda dogwood (C. alternifolia Gold Bullion). It's color stands out much better in my yard despite being in a similarly shaded situation. Not sure if it is too 'tree-like' for your situation. I attached a picture of it also.

the dogwood is pretty, but yes too tree like, I am planting up around the foundation area and it is about 4 ft wide, that is all the space I have. This is a pic of the area before our remodel

There is a shorter shrub that I grow that has that color foliage. Deutzia Chardonnay Pearls. Lime green foliage with white flowers in the spring.

Thank you, Amanda, yes that one is pretty too, but my spot is mostly shade-database says that needs mostly sun, so not sure it would work in my spot, but I may consider it for a different location, love that it is loaded w so many blooms Lovey dubby

Yes Mike, it is coming along, I hope to get this area planted soon so I can move on to other locations and projects. So much work to do Sticking tongue out

Mine were in alot of bright shade directly under a maple tree. Now they are under cottonwood trees so still plenty of shade. Give them a shot if they interest you and see how they do. Plants are pretty adaptable. Smiling
