I returned from Amana, Iowa recently and fell in love this this plant. They were everywhere!!

Upon arrival home, I find that purchasing this plant is impossible. Any suggestions?

Welcome! thereseh! Unfortunately all fernleaf peonies (species) are sold out for the season. Fernleaf hybrid is still available here:
https://peonyparadise.com/prod...

In very early 2024 when all peony catalogs are open again you will find fernleaf peony available again. Good luck!

Well, it's a year later and I'm still having trouble finding this plant. Any ideas or websites? I'm driving my husband crazy but I'm not giving up!

Thanks!

You can order the red double fernleaf peonies (p. tenufolia 'flora plena rubra) from this vendor, https://www.parkerspeonies.com...
It costs $50/root plus $14 shipping. I highly recommend getting the red double fernleaf. The flowers are more beautiful than the red single peony. I just ordered two of them! He also offers a fernleaf peony with singe pink flowers called Kinlen. That is $90/ root.

I grow Kinlen and can definitely recommend it Hurray! The emerging noses are nothing short of amazing -

and it has a much finer leaf cut than the typical tenuifolia -

I would call the flowers a pale coral/flesh pink - the picture was taken on a sunny day so the colour is washed out.

Fernleafs are amongst the most dry loving of peonies. Make sure to plant it in a very well draining area and out of the line of fire of any sprinklers. They will die back faster than other herbaceous, probably pretty dead looking by July. If you have relatively regular rain there is no reason to supplemental water at any point. The roots are also more fragile, lightly connected carrot-looking roots. Be gentle with them!
