It's close to 7 feet tall and the stalk is nice and thick. I took this picture after heavy rain and it's still not leaning much. It does not appear to be at any risk of falling over.

The area it is planted is part sun, so some of this lean is in search of more sun.

Is there any reason to stake it? As you can see, it seems to be doing pretty well as is.

Sometimes they do okay but generally I stake with a bamboo pole for extra support so if a storm happens by it won't snap to the ground. You can find garden bamboo poles or a steel pole, which are a bit more expensive but last longer, at a garden center it hardware store.
