My 50' pocket hose has come through 2 seasons without a hitch. It is on the east side of the house and mostly under cover, which may help. If I get another summer out of it, well worth the cost. We have a second one in our camper, same age, still going strong. Can't speak to the longer ones. I've not been happy with the coil hoses, I find them awkward.

I do not think there is a really good hose that any one makes. I go thru them quickly in the Arizona heat. The ones at Costco have been a big disappointment with the outer cover splitting off after a while. I also use a 100 ft one and water a lot. I have tried other brands and none last well. Glare

I am going into my third season with this pocket hose: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Poc...
I was worried about the quality because of the plastic? fittings.
I have had no problems with mine, but I am very careful to drain them between uses and store them in the garage. I never leave them out in the sun, and I also don' leave them with closed off garden nozzle closed while the water is turned on, which would build up a lot of pressure. I also don't walk on them or run equipment over them.
I also hook 2 or 3 together when I go across the bride to the far back yard to water, both by hand or hooked up to a rainbird sprinkle.

I love my Pocket Hose.

I am going to buy another one this year as I do all the things Lynn does not. I leave it out rain/shine occassionally walk on it, don't always drain it etc etc. I am lucky to get one season out of it.

I did see one in the Lowes ad with brass fittings, I may try it. A bit more expensive 35 vs 19 but if It will last it would be worth it.

Thank You! for the input. Would really like to try a lightweight hose again, but who knows Confused Confused

Linda, AZ heat does eat hoses, doesn't it? Know what you mean about Costco hoses...I think our last one from there was super heavy and kinked also.

If I find something that is absolutely great I will post it. Thanks to all!

Hilarious! Yes, the heat eats the hoses and sometimes the gardeners as well, Mary! Glare

I bought two 50' hoses over 20 years ago at Armstrong. They are rubber, flexible, never kink, stay out in sun, rain, and whatever all the time and I've never had a problem with them. They cost about $35 (ea) at the time, so I can just imagine what they cost now. I needed another one so went cheap and got one of those curly up hoses that is a real pain to deal with. Now I'm saving up for another really good hose.
Can't complain too loud about how the ball bounces when I'm the one who dropped it.

My pocket hose just gave up the ghost this year, I think I got 3 seasons out of it. I plan to replace it, only wish I could find a 25' version.

If you can't find it locally, you could try Amazon.

I do recall how you said you prefer to shop local so I guess it all depends on if you can find it locally.

I got my first ones at my local hardware store, but they only have the 50' length. I actually looked on amazon and didn't find anything shorter, just longer. I use mine for watering my porch plants and don't need the long length. But they shrink up so guess I'll just go with the 50. Same price locally, and I'd rather keep them in business than have something delivered by a drone (JK).

Mine is going into it's third year. I put 3 of them together so I can get to the back part of our 1/2 acre yard. I love it.

Have you tried a Craftsman hose, I've had one for the last 15-20 years, no problems. They have a life time guarantee. Highly recommend .

Mine are still going strong coming into fall. I do put them in the garage when I finish watering each time. I don't step on them, or run equipment over them. Also leaving them in the sun shortens the life of the hose.

Have you seen the new "flexsteelhose.com" commercials?
Has anyone gotten one?
They sure look tough, and they come in a lot of sizes.
I'm in the market for for a new, long-lasting hose.

Let us know if you do buy one. Looks interesting. I had pretty much decided it was going to be an annual buy for the flexible one. Whistling
