I have an unidentified rose bush that was previously giving lots of blooms and suddenly stopped and is growing long long Shooters only. There is another rose bush in the same planter that is doing fine so I don't think it's my watering, fertilizing or sunlight. How can I fix this?

I am no expert, but I think that particular rose bush was grafted to a rootstock of a once a year rambler. The rambler took over and the original rose died. Are the leaves now different than when it did not grow those shooters? I had experienced with my roses that were pink turning red, it was grafted to Dr. Huey root stock and the root stock grew branches and I did not noticed, eventually it grew stronger and the grafted original rose died and so I had a Dr. Huey rose. I noticed the form of the leaves also changed---they are the leaves of Dr. Huey. If that is the case, there is no fixing, unless that same bush still has parts that has different leaves. Then you can cut off and take it. off the growth from the rootstock---

Wow, that is very interesting! I never knew that. But the plant was planted by a gardener last year and I think he got it from a nursery so I don't know if that would be possible? I never paid attention if the leaves were different. I don't know a lot about roses. I am going to have to look and see if I can tell a difference. Thank you so much!

Could you post pictures of it? That would help, especially if you have pictures of it blooming and what it looks like now.

If you do not want ANY rose bush changing into another rose EVER again, ALWAYS purchase roses with the label: OWN ROOTS STOCK ; maybe this will explain it much better than my attempts:

Good luck!
