I have a baby seven sisters rose bush. It's about 4 months old and was planted 3 months ago. What do I do to prepare it for the cold winter ahead? Does it need to be clipped?

No, don't clip it until next spring when all danger of frost is over. The tips may freeze back - pruning now will make the dieback that much deeper into the plant. My daughter piles chunky bark on her roses in winter as insulation.

Seven Sisters is a once bloomer (at least while she is young) so you don't want to trim it in the spring until after it finishes blooming or you will not get much bloom at all.

I just looked it up... Seven Sisters is a rambling rose. Its supposed to cover the side of your castle, not be a little bush. Do you want to trim it at all?

I never trim any of mine; I just cut off the dead canes.

It is also an extremely hardy rose. Is that have said, when it goes dormant you might pile some bark on it Or oakleafs And remove them in early spring Before it warms up. However, it really shouldn't be necessary. I grew this rose from my dad in Maine and my brother is now growing it Near Redding Pennsylvania Pennsylvania Without you issue.
