I was wondering if there is a way to 'alter' my personal plant listing to only show the pics that I have taken. It appears there is a way as others seem to have done so, but I am not able to figure it out. So when I look onto my profile listing and look at all my own plants, I would like the picture that is shown with the daylily to be the pic I have contributed to the site and not the one with the most votes. Thanks in advance for your help!

Pretty sure it's already set up that way. When I look at my list, if I have added a photo to that entry, it's the first photo I added that now is the main thumbnail on my list.
I just looked at your list and checked several daylily ones, it seems like your photos are the thumbnails for your list too. If you aren't seeing your photo, it means you didn't add one to that entry.

My own plant list contains only my own images because I've never added any from the database.
When I click the "Edit" (pencil) symbol in one of my plant listings, all of the photos in the Edit box are shown with a "Delete" button in the upper left corner, which turns bright yellow when hovered over. Do the photos in your List not have that button?

@kreemoweet,

You have lovely photos, can I ask why you haven't added them to the database? and why you haven't added the plant entries directly to your list? It's so much easier with one simple click rather than typing them all in one at a time. They are clickable so you have easy and quick access to all the plant details as well as additional photos.
And jkporter does have those edit buttons but is asking about the images added to the database entries.

@Calif_Sue : I have indeed added most of the images in my Plant List to the Plant DB.
I would have little reason to upload a photo to my List unless I thought it might be a worthwhile addition to those that already exist in the DB. I do not link the plants in my List to the entries in the DB because I would thereby lose control of how the plant is named in my List, which I find intolerable. For instance, I just added the plant "Allium fistulosum" to my list, and clicked on one of the proposed DB entries. The plant was entered in my list under the name "Scallion ...", not the name I know it by. This is something I simply cannot have. And I do not feel my ability to check out the contents of the DB is at all impeded.

I did not realize that personal Lists were populated with random photos from the DB if the entry was linked to one of the proposed DB items, so ... nevermind, all.

The images in your list, if added to the database, are those of your own (not random photos).

But, the image may change depending on how many you've added to the database. Whichever picture (say you added three to an entry), has the most "thumb ups" is the one that will display in your list. A couple of my pictures in my list entries have changed as the most "liked" picture that I added to the database changed (I have a few plants with multiple pictures).

Of course, there's the option to add a photo that only you see, in your list. I edited one of my plant entries on my list and this is what appears:
Thumb of 2023-10-16/Hamwild/ee272b

Maybe this can be useful for you, so you don't have to add to the database, but you can have a picture of your plant for you own use. Thinking

If that's what you meant by your earlier post, my apologies. I've never used that option, so I'm unsure what it looks like. nodding

If you had added the plants to your list by clicking the 'Add to your list' green button, they would appear EXACTLY in the same alphabetical order as you added them, by genus.
Allium fistulosum has a list of common names, the word scallion just happened to be at the top of the list so that was the one displayed before the genus name but it doesn't change the it's placement alphabetically. I just now gave a thumbs up to 'Evergreen Bunching Onions' as that seems to be the most popular one used online with vendors and references so now that is the main common name displayed. Evergreen Bunching Onion (Allium fistulosum) If other members gave more thumbs up to another common name on that list, the one with the most thumbs up would be the one displayed. But it never changes the order it appears on your list, it's always by genus.
