I have a question guys....at what point do you separate the chick offsets from the mama hen? Also, when you do take them off what is the correct way? Confused

Twit once suggested that you take as much of the stolon as you can, when taking off the chick. So I've been doing that, and notice it does seem to make a difference. As far as when, I feel like that depends on the type of semp. You just have to experiment. I noticed that with rollers, they seem ready when they're smaller/younger. I also read on one of the threads that leaving the chicks attached helps them get a better start. Personally if I know I'm going to be around and able to water, shade or whatever else they may need, and I want to increase the amount of a certain type, I take the chick whenever I want to! Thumbs up

I usually wait until they have some roots growing into the ground. But even the ones that have the new little white air roots take off easily if provided with good soil and enough moisture.

Ok thanks guys!! I will have to get down there and really take a good look at what those chicks are up to on some of them. Some of them are getting pretty big and just want to make sure that I detach them so the mama hen will still produce more. I will take some close up pics this weekend to show you guys what's going on Green Grin!

Hey Jackie, glad to see you are back! Question regarding the tender succulents in your last few photos: Are they the ones that were originally in the window box at the previous home? Anyway, they are all looking pretty good in their new home!! Hurray!
