Any suggestions for a climbing rose to plant in container on a southeast facing balcony Zone 7? (There are no buildings blocking the light.) I'd like to grow it on a trellis and/or against brick wall. Thank you.

Let's start with some basic questions: How large is the container? How tall and wide do you want the rose to be? What colors do you like in roses?

I agree with Zuzu. There are dozens or hundreds of different climbing roses that will probably grow in your zone. And we'll be happy to tell you about our favorites. But for me it's all about the gorgeous colors! You should choose ones that bring absolute joy to your heart.

The container is 20" wide at top and 16" high.
Colors I like: deep yellow, dark pink.
I would like blossoms about 3" wide and a plant that blooms from spring to autumn (if possible).
Your help much appreciated because I don't know much about roses. Picture is of 1/2 the balcony. Thank you.

I think that Pretty in Pink would be nice!
But may be zuzu can offer something better.

Autumn Sunset would work well with the other plants on your balcony. I grew one in a large container for years without any problems.

Thank you Zuzu and Elena99. The Rosa Autumn Sunset looks just like what was in my mind. I need to order online. I don't know if this forum allows recommendations for online sellers but if so, I'm wondering if you can make a recommendation. Thank you.

I found it on Heirloom Roses and I've ordered many of my roses from them. Great business that I've had no trouble with and their roses are fantastic. Good luck.
