Hi,

About two weeks ago I asked here if I can still save my lemon button fern and I was advised to put it near the window in the light and give it a trim. I did both and still the plant is in the same condition as it was before. The stems are dry & turned little brownish. I live in Finland so cannot keep it outside in the balcony. Is there any hope to recover it or should I throw it away?

Looking forward to hear from you all.
Thank you.

These things take time. Especially in the winter.
Just hang in there and wait. If nothing changes in two months, throw it out. If something does change within two months, hang in there some more.

Thank you for your quick reply. Can you please also tell how much water I should be giving? Usually I put some water in the tray on the bottom and the plant sucks it within a day or two. Is it ok? Thanks again.

The plant is both dormant and traumatized. It needs to rest and recover. I'd let it sit moist, not wet and not too dry. If some of the old shoots seem brittle (you bend them and they snap off) then they may be dead and you could snip them down to the soil. Any recovering new growth will likely come from soil level anyway. As for other conditions, like light, etc., maybe someone else can give advice. I don;t know this plant.

You have received some good advice in this post and on the other that you originally posted.

A plant sitting in water for a couple of days and doing that consistently is liable to cause some root rot. I would suggest taking the plant out of the pot and inspecting the roots. Does the soil smell bad?
