The plant is both dormant and traumatized. It needs to rest and recover. I'd let it sit moist, not wet and not too dry. If some of the old shoots seem brittle (you bend them and they snap off) then they may be dead and you could snip them down to the soil. Any recovering new growth will likely come from soil level anyway. As for other conditions, like light, etc., maybe someone else can give advice. I don;t know this plant.
