In the past I have always had an almost constant bloom of my African Violets. Two months ago I removed the bottom leaves as the plants were getting too big. Since then I have not had a new flower or even a bud on any of these plants even tho I have changed the soil. Help!

I imagine your violet will bloom again when it has enough leaves to support blooms. Leaves (and roots) are supporting your plant through photosynthesis. Fewer leaves, less photosynthesis, less food production abilities, fewer flowers. Changing the soil may also slow blooming as the plant recovers from the shock and stress of a re-pot.

Someone else might have another explanation.

Not all plants flower all the time. Some trees, for instance, are on annual cycles. Conifers will have bounty cone crops for a few years, then nothing for a while - squirrel populations boom and crash as a result (in wild forests).

I would not worry about the violet flowering. Give it time. A break. Relish the delicious texture of the leaves, now that you can see them without all those flowers in the way.

I agree
I have one resting right now. If it's looking healthy with new leaves, it should bloom.
Plant it and they will come.

Thanks to all who replied. Guess I need a bit more patience.
