Hi, my family produces new, non toxic deer and squirrel repellents. 3 years in the making we have finally been able make it available to everyone. If this is of interest to you please take a look and learn more at buckstop.us. We greatly appreciate your community and hope to be a positive part of it. Thank you.

I have 78 acres, mostly woodland, 4 pastures for my horses. What I did was spread winter rye in those cleared areas, and the deer liked that much better than the food and flower plots. It was a pretty green with horses and deer munching down on it. I spent a lot of effort that didn't help at all before I found something that helps with the deer. Squirrels haven't been an issue for me - not so for armadillos, possums, and raccoons. Best of luck to you!

Hi @UncleBuckStop ,

Just curious, where is "Columubs, OH" 😉

What are the E.P.A. Registration numbers for your deer and squirrel repellent products? I can't see one side of the label, where that might be shown.

If you've developed the all-time best repellents, that would be terrific, those critters cause a lot of damage!

Have you run any tests comparing your deer repellent to Bobbex? So far it seems to be the most effective spray-on repellent. We order it from Home Depot and pick it up there or have it delivered free if we order enough.

Thanks,
Pat

Thank you very much for the acorn!

No reply yet from @UncleBuckStop. I'd like to know more about the product, how it was tested, and so on. The website seems to be more about promoting it than informing potential users.

@Hortaholic Thank you for pointing out my typographical err. I switched to Worthington because that's much easier for me to spell and that is more specifically where we are. We have no need for EPA registration because our product is made of food grade ingredients. As to testing against Bobbex we did not because we have never heard of that particular product however after looking at it I see that it contains the following: Meat Meal, Fish Meal, and Fish Oil, this is one of the reasons we developed ours, those stink up our entire yard and no matter how effective they were or were not, we could not tolerate that stench. I'm sorry you feel we don't have enough information for you on our site but it's brand new and we have the most important information we felt was necessary at that time. We of course will add more to it as time goes on and the more input we get from customers the better. Thank you for taking the time to inquire about this, you could have also gone directly to us at [email protected] we had no idea anyone had posted about us lately. Thank you!!

Hi Uncle @UncleBuckStop

I think you may not be aware that any product labeled as an animal repellent must be registered with the E.P.A. That's the law - FIFRA.

I used to work in the Pesticide Regulation section of a state department of agriculture. My job was to read pesticide labels to be sure that they complied with the information required by law.

It does not matter if the ingredients are "food grade". You're not selling a food. You're selling a pesticide.

For the safety of your customers they need the information that's required by law to be given on pesticide labels.

I can understand why you would prefer that I contact you privately about this. But I am interested in educating your potential customers in ways that you have not demonstrated a willingness to do.

Bobbex is quite odiferous when first applied but the smell soon dissipates at least to human noses. It remains effective for a long time even after one or two heavy rains. In the meantime the deer get out of the habit of looking for food there.

As I've written elsewhere, I stay upwind when spraying it, wear long sleeves, long pants, shoes, socks, and gloves. As soon as I walk into the house I put everything but the shoes in the washer by themselves with detergent and hot water.

Pat
P.S. I don't have a financial interest of any kind in Bobbex.
I also do not currently own stock in Home Depot (unless buried in an ETF).

I received a Treemail from Uncle @UncleBuckStop saying that he is now in intact with EPA concerning his product. Glad to hear it!

I also received an informative Treemail from Bob @NJBob with the following link:
https://www.epa.gov/minimum-ri...

EPA has a class of Minimum Risk Pesticides based on the active ingredients, concentrations, and some other criteria. I was unaware of this class because in my work I was only reviewing labels submitted for registration.

It is possible that this product will fall into this class. I will wait to see.

The EPA says that these products must still be cleared by the state.

Then there is the question of efficacy data. How does it work in a controlled experiment comparing it to other products?

Pat
Edit 5/3: to replace non-working EPA link.
